At Grizedale

Principally a photographer, Claire generated works that became the subject of her photographs. Principle works were made in 2001 and engaged with the tourist industry of the Lake District, and the marketing and consumption of the rural idyll. She made jumpers from Hawkshead walking socks, covered them in souvenir fabric patches and then asked visitors and locals to pose while wearing the jumpers at the locations depicted on them. She made and sold patches which point to an imagined ‘GREAT VIEW’, and fixed signs to trees that were based on over-heard comments of walkers in the forest.

Claire latterly worked in the Grizedale office and helped produce 'The Great Escape', curating and initiating works for the programme alongside Jenny Brownrigg.
