In 2003 Dan contributed a text to the Roadshow publication, documenting his (and from the sounds of it, everyone else’s) experiences over the three weeks of the tour. As well as weaving the tale wonderfully Dan’s text also sheds some light on how to write risk assessments for writers in residence. Take note Human Resources folk:

Level of risk/hazard: People may attack Dan
Who may be harmed: Artist/people
List of controls: Make sure Dan doesn’t wander too far out of sight/monitoring of staff.

As preposterous as this seems it turns out people may, and in this case will attack Dan and all of the artists involved in Roadshow.

Also a word of warning for anyone planning on reading the Roadshow publication don’t open it to widely, it will come apart.
